Toulouse is the capital of the French department of Haute-Garonne and of the region of Occitanie. The city is on the banks of the River Garonne, 150 kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea, 230 km (143 mi) from the Atlantic Ocean and 680 km (420 mi) from Paris. It is the fourth-largest city in France, with 479,553 inhabitants within its municipal boundaries, and 1,360,829 inhabitants within its wider metropolitan area, after Paris, Lyon and Marseille, and ahead of Lille and Bordeaux.

Toulouse est une commune du Sud-Ouest de la France. Capitale au Ve siècle du royaume wisigoth, une des capitales du royaume d'Aquitaine, capitale du comté de Toulouse fondé en 852 par Raimond Ier et capitale historique du Languedoc, elle est aujourd'hui le chef-lieu de la région Occitanie, du département de la Haute-Garonne, et le siège de Toulouse Métropole. Elle était également le chef-lieu de l'ancienne région Midi-Pyrénées jusqu'à sa disparition au 1er janvier 2016.
