Democracy movements of China

Democracy movements of the PRC are a series of political movements in the People's Republic of China against the continued one-party rule by the Communist Party of China. It can be traced back to Liang Shuming's challenge to Mao Zedong at the Supreme Conference of PRC's Government Administration Council in 1953. In that year, the CCP forcibly changed the ownership of rural land from private ownership to collective ownership, which caused disgust among peasants.
